July 2023 Charity Challenge: Volunteering Time

July Charity Challenge

The team are taking a well-earned rest in July from an active charity challenge, and from asking family, friends and colleagues for donations (thank you for your exceptional generosity this year!).

June Re-Cap

June was a brutal month for Lewis Johnston, who trained for, and took part in The Raptor – a 63-mile bike ride through the remote roads of the Forest of Bowland. Not only did he raise an incredible £240 for Trinity Palliative Care Services and Brian House Children’s Hospice, he’s also discovered a new hobby!
Jess Clayton completed her Trek26 challenge for Alzheimer’s Society (turned out to be 27 miles!), and raised £200. Thankfully she hasn’t been put off hiking!

This Month’s Challenge

In July, instead, our charity challenge is to help as many causes as we can, by volunteering our time. Regardless of whether our team are picking up litter on dog walks, helping at a charity shop/food bank/soup kitchen, taking part in a beach clean; where we can help and donate our team we will be doing so.

Team TVG is back at Blackpool Central Beach on 10th July, with Royal Caribbean International and Enveco NW Environmental Services (a Blackpool Council wholly-owned business), for our second Beach Clean.
Lesley Macdonald will be conducting her own beach clean at her local beach near the Western Lake District.
John Warr, with his wife and daughters, has been cleaning beaches whilst on holiday in Rhodes.
Jess Clayton has been volunteering with the Canal & River Trust, clearing Himalayan Balsam from banksides.
And, we’ll report back with all further activities!

If you know of a community, trust or charity that is looking for volunteers, please feel free to get in touch, and we’ll see who we have in the area!

Don’t worry though… we’re back in August with physical challenges, and raising money for a charity close to the Travel Village.
