At The Travel Village Group, we’ve always been proud of our team’s big hearts. And now one of them is proving it in a sky-high way!
Caitlyn, one of our dedicated group travel experts, is gearing up to complete a daring skydive in 2025 in aid of three incredible charities that are close to her heart: Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Brian House Children’s Hospice, and Donna’s Dream House.
But this isn’t just any charity challenge. It’s deeply personal.
Just before Christmas 2023, the niece of one of Caitlyn’s closest friends, a baby girl named Grace, began a fight for her life. Grace, just six days old at the time, was rushed to hospital with severe breathing difficulties. What followed was an unimaginable journey marked by suspected sepsis, a devastating cardiac arrest, and the discovery of a congenital heart condition that had gone undetected in the womb.
Grace was transferred to Alder Hey, where she underwent multiple life-saving surgeries. Including bowel operations and eventually open-heart surgery. Her first Christmas was spent in intensive care, while her family clung to hope, unsure whether she’d survive the night.
Amazingly, Grace fought through every challenge. She defied the odds over and over again. Undergoing five surgeries in total and astonishing her medical team with her strength.
Today, in 2025, Grace is a beautiful and determined little soul. Though her road to recovery is ongoing, and recent assessments suggest she may be living with cerebral palsy, her spirit is unshakeable. Her family continues to navigate uncertainty with courage, love and an unwavering belief in their daughter’s potential.
Inspired by Grace’s journey and the tireless support of the organisations that helped her, Caitlyn has chosen to skydive for Alder Hey, where Grace received her emergency care; Brian House, a local children’s hospice offering invaluable respite for families; and Donna’s Dream House, a charity that brings joy and special memories to seriously ill children.
We couldn’t be prouder of Caitlyn for taking on such a brave challenge in honour of such a brave little girl.
If you’ve been touched by Grace’s story and Caitlyn’s incredible act of courage, we invite you to show your support for Caitlyn’s sky dive on the 6th July 2025.
