Earlier this year, TTG (Travel Trade Gazette) set out on a mission to find 20 passionate people within the travel industry, who are committed to promoting sustainable travel practices within their businesses. Ultimately contributing towards a greener and more equitable future for the industry. The response was overwhelming, with many agents sharing inspiring stories about their sustainable travel journeys, suggestions for sustainable holiday packages, and strategies for encouraging their clients to travel more responsibly. Representing the Travel Village Group will be Jenny Higgins, our Marketing Executive.
TTG, together with its six Sustainable Travel Heroes – Avis, G Touring, Greek National Tourism Organisation, Hurtigruten, Iberostar, and Intrepid – appointed a team of 20 Ambassadors in training from among the candidates. These enthusiastic trainees will undergo a series of six educational workshops that cover a range of topics such as measuring and reducing carbon emissions, identifying sustainable suppliers, marketing responsible holidays, and promoting positive impacts on the destinations visited.
At each workshop, the trainee Ambassadors will be challenged to implement a change within their business or way of working that will have a positive impact. TTG will document their progress and share their experiences and learnings in the magazine, providing readers with valuable insights into sustainable travel practices.
Once the workshop course is completed, our TTG Sustainable Travel Ambassadors in training will receive invitations to participate in one of three fam trips in 2023. Additionally, they will receive support from our Sustainable Travel Heroes in hosting a client event, along with marketing spend and customised assets to promote their new status as TTG Sustainable Travel Ambassadors.
Jenny had this to say:
The news is out! I’m officially a TTG Media Sustainability Ambassador in training! As a firm believer in the importance of sustainable practices, I am honoured to have the opportunity to work with TTG and expand my knowledge of sustainability within the travel industry. As you may (or may not) already know sustainability was a huge part of my education right from my A-Levels to my Degree in Fashion, to right to now where I work over at Travel Village Group, within the marketing department as well as taking on the role of Group Sustainability Ambassador. At TVG, I love to share sustainable tips and tricks with the team in our monthly newsletter and I also organise our quarterly beach cleans. A massive thank you to the team at TVG for all their support and for pushing me to apply for this!
Congratulations Jenny!
