At the Travel Village Group, we love taking part in Fam Trips. Some of our top-selling agents recently boarded AmaWaterways beautiful 5* AmaMora and sailed down the Rhine River. AmaMora visited magical places including Cologne, Amsterdam, Lahnstein and other European cities drenched in culture and breathtaking beauty.
The best way to enhance sales is to have extensive, in-depth knowledge in the product and we believe the perfect way to gain this is to experience it personally. We asked the team onboard to share their experience:
The highlight of the AmaWaterways Educational trip was visiting Cologne cathedral in the heart of the city. It’s so statuesque and really beautiful, all within the heart of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Educational trips are so important for me as a personal travel consultant. It gives me first hand knowledge of the products and destinations that I sell, and oftentimes they help me to sell products that I’m less familiar with.

I love being given the chance to go on these trips as it enables us to have better product knowledge to liaise with customers. I enjoyed the relaxation of sailing, whilst taking in the scenery, then being able to jump ashore at each port to explore the towns and villages. I especially liked the included tours that give you experiences you wouldn’t necessarily discover by yourself, all accompanied by knowledgeable guides.
On board AmaMora, I thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine and the heated pool. And, I may not have used it, but the gym looked good. All of this to enjoy, plus the great company.

For me, Fam trips have always been a way for me to learn about new destinations or ways of travelling. This weekend was my first ever experience of river cruising and my own pre-conceptions have been blown out the water. When you experience something for yourself it’s so much easier to market and sell, so fam trips give me the confidence to push destinations / holiday types I wouldn’t usually do. Now I know more about river cruising, I am definitely more comfortable getting conversations going on the topic and get those cruise bookings going!
The highlights of the trip for me were; visiting a traditional German market in the very heart of Cologne, line dancing on the top deck as we sailed into Amsterdam, eating delicious food onboard AmaMora and the fact that many of my bucket list activities have been achieved in such a short period of time!

Wow, what a weekend I’ve had! My trip highlight has to be the tour of Cologne. Our tour guide was fantastic, offering the perfect insight to what this city has to offer along with its history and culture. We finished the tour with a famous Kolsch beer (or 2), and a walk through the Christmas markets-magical! I will definitely visit again.
I also have to mention the Twin Balcony. It was bright and spacious and had the comfiest bed ever. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given over my time at the Travel Village. Going on a Fam trip really brings the holiday to life and being able to share my knowledge to clients and colleagues is a brilliant tool!

I was honoured to be asked to attend the AmaWaterways Familiarisation trip by Mark and Katrina along with 8 of our other agents.
AmaMora is a beautiful River Cruise Ship, nothing is too much trouble for the staff from the moment you get onboard to the moment you leave. The highlight of the trip for me, apart from all the amazing food and company, was a trip to Cologne and the Christmas Markets. The guide was very knowledgeable during our walking tour and we got to sample some local beer followed by some gluhwein at the Christmas Markets.
I highly recommend AmaWaterways.
